One, TWO!

Our friends from Brazil, Lyoto, Fabiola, and Taiyo, were in town. Since our boys are only 4 days apart, we decided to have a little combined celebration together.

The two birthday boys, so cute together.

My little man is all of a sudden TWO years old! I'm not sure how it happened so fast, but it did. And now I would like to freeze time. please. right now. forever. I am enjoying this little guy more than ever before. Let me tell you about my big, little two-year-old. He is the BEST cuddler. Always cuddling 'maw-eee' (mommy). Giving kisses & loves. So sweet, always wanting to please. He loves to play. all day. every minute. There is not one second wasted where this kid is sitting still. Constantly moving, jumping, running, even helping maw-eee clean, you name it! So much fun. And smart as a whip-it. We've been working on letters for the past couple of months. He knows them all. From A-Z, you point to it, he can name it! I am constantly amazed by all of the new words and phrases that come out of this little guys mouth. Constantly giggling, making faces & making maw-eee and daddy laugh. We sure do love this ridiculously adorable two year old! Happy Birthday my sweet boy!

July 4th

lil guy. what a little goof...

...& then, the fireworks began. very loud fireworks...

...and lil guy got a little nervous...

so, mommy took lil guy out to the hall. where we danced to some good ol oldies music...

...daddy joined us. & we decided to sneak up to higher grounds for a little peak of the fairgrounds. good times.

Tradition

                                                2009                           2010

Last year we started a new family tradition. I just love these 'old school' photo booths at the Del Mar Fair. Won't it be fun to see how we've grown throughout the years!

Paddleboarding

Alan & Ani, Jeff & McKay, Derek & Jack

Jeff & McKay, Elke & Ani, Me

McKay, Ani, Jack

All three of us!

One Saturday we went down to the Carlsbad Lagoon with some friends to enjoy the Paddleboard Demo Day. If you've never tried stand-up paddleboarding, you really should. It is so much fun! McKay however, wasn't quite so sure about it at first. He sure had a tight death-grip on Jeff the entire time, when they went out. Toward the end, I finally got him to sit down and face forward with me. We had a great day and I can't wait until next time!

The Fair

This is right before the little piggy show started, where baby pigs race around a miniature track. Once it began, McKay wouldn't have anything to do with it.  He buried his little head into his chest and then into mine for the entire show. I couldn't even get a peek out of him. I decided it must have been the noisy crowd, bells, and microphone he was so terrified of..

Seeing it was one of the few free things to do at the fair, we did lots of ring, horseshoe, and bean bag tossing.

Love that face! :)

My little brother, Britt, came to stay with us for most of June. We always love having him, he's the best. McKay can't seem to ever get enough of his uncle 'Bit'. We decided it would be fun to venture to the Del Mar Fair one day. McKay loved the elephants, animals and the kettle corn, of course! And Britt got pretty good at the horseshoe toss, even though he did get schooled by the eighty year old running the booth. ;) All in all, we sure had a great day of it!

Go Padres

One weekend, we rode the Coaster down to the Padres Game.

McKay loved riding the big train. Every time we pass the tracks he calls out 'choo choo'.

McKay & Ella wearing their very own Padres scarves. McKay wore it all night long.

Go Padres!

A few weekends ago, we rode the Coaster down to a Padres game. It was so much fun spending time as an 'all American family'. Train rides, baseball, good friends, game food, and lots of cheering, we all sure had a blast!

Walking in Somebody Else's Shoes

McKay loves shoes. Just like Mommy. Just like Daddy. These pictures make me think about what it's like to walk in McKay's shoes. Not literally, of course, but figuratively. Wow, what an amazing little person I get to have walking by my side each and every day!

Story Time

Reading stories with cousin Brooke, so cute.

McKay with Uncle Britt

Hmmm, is it just me? Or do those expressions look almost identical... :)

Later on, we met up with my Dad and Grandma for lunch at the Prado

McKay loved the building blocks in the Science Museum
