bedtime

 Every night we brush our teeth, read stories, and say prayers. Without doubt, McKay always insists on water and his acquired list of 'lovelies'. 2 blankets, 2 'horsies' and monkey 'George'. Sometimes I get to lay down with him. Talk about our day. Talk about what lies ahead of us tomorrow. Exchange cuddles, kisses, and tickles. my quality moments. And if we haven't dozed off together...  

 ..he will be here. asleep in bed #2, the hallway floor. until we move him back to his bed. and there, until he wanders to #3, the floor next to mommy's bed. every night.

McKay-isms

Little moments to remember:

One Sunday morning, I came downstairs wearing a new necklace. McKay ran up to me for some hugs. He grabbed my necklace in his little hands and told me, "So cuuute, mommy. Soo cuuute." So funny that he noticed. He made my day. 

I was driving home one evening with the boys and noticed a UPS truck parked in our neighborhood. McKay loves trucks. Anything that moves, really. He always points out the trains, airplanes, buses, and big trucks.

Mommy: McKay, look at the big truck. (he looked). It's a UPS truck.

McKay: Nooo! No PS!

Mommy: Yeah, UPS truck.

McKay: (angry now) No PS, mommy! No PS! Mommy PS! 

(haha. he was thinking I said "you" ps)

Mommy: No, not McKay PS, it's called a U-P-S truck.

McKay: Nooo PS! Mommy PS!

Mommy: Ok, no PS.

Sometimes I sing along in the car. Yes, I am that girl. & I know you all do it too.

McKay: No singing Mommy!!!

(still singing).

McKay: Stooooopp it Mommy! No singing!

(singing louder now and dancing along with it. I like to tease.)

McKay: (reeeally angry now). NOOO SINGING AND NOO DANCING MOMMY!!!!!!

I thought this kind of stuff wasn't supposed to happen until he was a teenager. or is it that bad? (my singing and dancing). :)

McKay has been potty trained for quite some time now. However, we do still use the pull-ups at night. I'm just not quite ready to let go of those yet. ;) Every morning he puts on  his 'big boy pants', aka underwear. But one morning he tried to pretend he didn't know how to put them on anymore.

Mommy: Come on McKay, you're a big boy, you can do it.

McKay: No, Mommy help me.

Mommy: McKay, I know you can do it. You're a big boy. 

McKay: No! I'm NOT a big boy! I'm little.

Well, I guess he got me there. He is still little. & too cute not to help. I'm a sucker. and he knows it.

One particular night, he had been sick and had an accident in his pull-up in the middle of the night. The really not-so-fun kind of accident. He changed himself and came into our bedroom.

McKay: Mommy, doggie poo-poo. (his tone as if he were doing me a big favor, that he had noticed to point it out)

Mommy: (half asleep still) ??? (and puzzled).

McKay: Mommy, doggie poo-poo. (pointing to his room).

Mommy: What?! ummm, we don't have a dog. McKay.

Nice try McKay. Gross. but I guess kind of funny in hindsight. Trying to blame some made-up, imaginary dog. and thinking he could pull-it off. Poor kid, stomach bugs happen.

Apparently 'Dinosaurs vs. Fire Princesses' is all the rage on the playground these days, or so we've heard. Here's McKay roaring. Too funny, i love it.

In September, McKay started his 'Little Bugs Preschool' with Ms Paula. Little bugs is twice a week and he can't get enough of it, he absolutely loves it.  It is so cute to see all of the fun little art projects that he makes and hear about the fun things they learn and do.

Ashton's Baby Blessing

September 4th was Ashton's baby blessing. It was such a perfect day that we loved spending with the family. My little angel was just that, all day long. We are so lucky to have such a sweet little spirit in our home.

The Boys

After a little adjusting and some assurance we aren't replacing him, Mckay has been so sweet to his little brother. He always wants to make sure Ashton is being taken care of and goes everywhere we do. Ashton is my little angel baby. So happy and all smiles. I love having two boys. Two little buddies. LOVE.

I can't believe my little man is 3! He has grown leaps and bounds over this past year. Here are some things to remember about my favorite little 3: He has LOTS of energy. He can pretty much climb anything and loves to jump on everything. and does. In the past year he has outgrown his bottle, crib, and diapers. He also started putting sentences together and gibber gabbers all day long. He knows all of his letters and can count to 20. He loves his friends and wakes up talking about them every day. Loves pizza and yogurt. Goes nuts over ice cream. Literally, nuts. Favorite movies are Sandlot and The Goonies. I can't help but laugh at the fact that he's into such 'big kid' movies (have you seen these movies lately? pretty hilarious, although probably a bit age inappropriate). He's obsessed with anything transportation...trains, airplanes, helicopters, etc. Especially loves his thomas the trains. It's so cute how he lies down on the floor and slides around the room right next to them. Loves the beach. Loves baths, asks for one every day. And my favorite, when he spontaneously wraps his arms arms around my neck as tight as he can and gives me a bazillion kisses. Love it. Love him. He's always making our family laugh and smile. Such a sweet boy. While 3 years has gone by in the blink of an eye, at the same time I feel like my little McKay man has been a part of me forever. I couldn't be luckier to have such a sweet, cool little dude.

You don't realize how quickly babies grow until you look back at pictures taken literally just days ago. It is amazing to watch Ashton changing. Bigger. Stronger. That first smile that melts your heart away. Sometimes it's easy to look ahead, waiting for the day that he'll sleep through the night. Or be able to play with big brother. Looking back makes me stop and always remember to slow down and enjoy the now. Because I really do love the now.
